The Worldwide Civil Aviation Group (ICAO) on Tuesday mentioned that it’s “actively investigating stories of a possible data security incident allegedly linked to a risk actor recognized for focusing on worldwide organizations,” and has initially concluded that “roughly 42,000 recruitment utility information data from April 2016 to July 2024” had been stolen.
In its preliminary assertion, the ICAO mentioned, “We are able to verify that this incident is restricted to the recruitment database and doesn’t have an effect on any programs associated to aviation security or security operations.”
On Wednesday, ICAO officers elaborated on that assertion throughout an e mail trade between CSO On-line and ICAO communications officer William Raillant-Clark, who mentioned, “ICAO started its probe as quickly because the claims had been dropped at our consideration” on January 5, 2025.
