Hacker Unknown now recognized, named on Europol’s most-wanted record

German police have pinned a reputation to one of many world’s most infamous hackers. Danii Shchukin operated beneath the names of UNKN or Unknown and GandCrab and was, in line with German police, the chief of one of many largest globally lively ransomware teams, often called GandCrab/Revi. Shchukin is thought to have been working since 2019.

Shchukin has now been positioned on Europol’s most wished record, together with one his accomplices, Anatoly Kravchuk.

German publication Computerwoche lined a few of Shchukin’s exploits 5 years in the past. Charles Carmakal, chief know-how officer at Mandiant mentioned then that Shchukin was well-known for refusing to work with English-speaking hackers and forbade any of his associates from attacking Russia, or any nations inside the Russian sphere of curiosity. Revi is believed to be related to the DarkSide hacker group, liable for the Colonial Pipeline assault again in 2021.
